Day 4

We went to church at 9 am. In New York the church and the temple are in the same building. The temple is the top floor. It was neat to go to the ward and the couple speakers gave great talks about prayer and being optimistic. Most of the congregation were visitors which would be weird if you lived there I think.

Then we visited a church that was less than a block away from the twin towers. When they were hit, the church was barely affected. There were letters and banners from people after the twin towers fell. We didn't go to Ground Zero because it was pricey and the line was so long, but the church was just as good.

Lots of beautiful flower stands

And then, we saw the famous amazing fabulous...Amorino! The marvelous gelatto place from Paris! We thought we'd never see it in the US, but there it was. A gleaming little kiosk of amazingness. I got raspberry, chocolate, pistachio and mango. Enough said.

There was a cool flee market going on that we explored too. It had hand-made bikes, maple/chocolate flavored soda, good authentic food, and local honey. We had to try the blueberry-peach pie:)

Ruby was kinda excited
Then: The Yankees/Red Sox game! The stadium was really cool and there was lots of energy. We got great pizza and Snapple drinks before the game and dad and Ruby got icecream cones inside. Sadly, Yankees lost in the 10th inning after a player striked out. We'd moved to better seats someone had vacated by then and it was intense! But fun:)
We went to the hotel through Times Square. The lights, people, sounds, smell! It's overwhelming but in a good way! I love the bright colors and sparkling lights!

HOLIDAYS

I was so happy the Mijatovic family came to visit! Even though we're not related my blood, we're family! My lovely grandparents The newlyweds invited us and their friends to see the lights at Temple Square, then enjoy some pie and hot cocoa at their adorable apartment, conveniently located right by the temple. Such fun! Thanksgiving with the Siskins ....And everybody else ;)
The world is big. It can be scary. It can be a lot of things, a lot of adjectives because well, it's the WORLD. But there is so much  good  in it. Make it your mission to notice the good in every day life. One thing that you can count on is the sun. It rises, it's warm, it gives light. Things we need. Things that are good, life sustaining, bright. Happiness is not a side affect of a perfect life. Waiting to be happy is just plain silly. Happiness wants to come into your life, in fact, it already has, so acknowledge and befriend it. Make it deeper and better with gratitude, consistence and effort. The good in the world is apparent and abundant, just like happiness. Focusing on the good doesn't mean we ignore the sad stuff going on, refuse to ever watch the news, or be ignorant of pressing matters around the world. It just means that you cling to hope, never give up, fight discouragement and let the good into your life. Let the good in, put some good out, let light radiate fr...
