Ririe Woodbury 2013

This workshop was a blast and worth the solo early flight home.
We met at the school at 7 am and I drove down to SLC with Amber (Hailey's mom), Hailey and Ashley. We checked in to our hotel- Residence Inn- and then walked to the Rose Wagner Theater. Two other schools were there too so we were split into 3 groups. I stayed in the black box studio for a modern technique class. The teacher Yebel was from Mexico where he danced for five years. He was really talented and a great teacher. He mentioned dancing sometimes being like doing a duet with the ground. We did most stuff on the ground which I usually like, but this class included lots of pushing your feet over your head to touch the floor again which hurt my neck. Bruises I can deal with, but I didn't want to kink my neck or back. Eventually I got it but I think I prefer springing off the ground instead ;) Then we had improv with Mary Lynn which I loved. We did a technique where you picture dots hitting your hips, belly button, crown and sides of head, feet and in between your feet and then an identical plane of dots in front and behind you. So you have 27 dots you want to manipulate and touch with different parts of your body. It was really interesting. Then we had lunch and then rep/choreography. The teacher, Brad was pretty cute and he was an amazing dancer. We learned parts from The Finish Line that I saw him and Tara preform at a concert earlier this year. It was really fun, fast, and challenging. Next was Latin Ballroom with Yebel. I loved it! Lots of hip swinging and fast steps. Conditioning with Dishawn was really tiring but felt so good after!
After dancing, we went swimming then got ready to go to dinner. We dressed up and went to Macaroni Grill. I'd never been there and the bread is so good!
At the hotel, Syd, Ashley and Zoey and I talked for a few hours about ballet, Nutcracker, dance, college. We heard there was ice cream downstairs so we went and got some. We didn't know how much it would be and our drumsticks ended up being 3 bucks! Oh, well, it was so good! :) We laughed a ton and did a massage train and everyone was really sore and out of it. It was pretty funny. I didn't sleep very well but I wasn't too tired the next day. We got up at 6:55, went down fr breakfast at 7, and then got ready to go by 8:30. Modern technique with Tara was much better than the vertebrate-crunching dance we did on Friday and I really liked it. Improv was super fun and we did duets with postcards as the inspiration. I did mine with Zoey and it turned out pretty well. We learned more of The Finish Line and then had Latin again. Yoga with Alex was one of my favorite parts. It was so relaxing and good for my muscles and it helped with the soreness a little. She's a great teacher.
All the girls are so nice and I got to know them so much better. I'm so excited for the upcoming year!

My postcard was kind of like this, but she was carrying a suitcase and it was black and white with 3  big yellow and reds circles

So my parents are off to Paris with Freestone and Tizzy. Lucky ducks! My grandparents are staying with us some of the time, but a lot of babysitting and homework is in-store for me this next week and a quarter so I was kinda stressed out. I spaced all my homework and remembered at 11 pm last night that I had a 100 question biology test, 2 Honors English assignments (That included reading) and 6 pages of math. So I woke up at 6, did it, planned to do the math during lunch and got ready in about 2.7 minutes. Luckily, I had tutorial so I went to get Algebra 2 help and finished that. Yay! And my science test turned out to be good, I could use notes and a textbook. I am so relieved right now and I think Heavenly Father helped a lot today. The Epic of Gilgamesh has nothin' on me today! :) PS Have fun in Paris guys! We'll miss you but not too much, I mean You're In Paris! :)

Happy New Year!

2014 will be a great year! It's 1:46 am right now so I will blog more tomorrow but I just can't believe it's January and the start of another brand new year! Yay for 2k14!!! On New Years Eve I went to a friends house to party! We watched Back to the Future and had treats, played games, and talked. We counted down, watched the ball drop, made fun of Miley Cyrus. There were a lot of people so it was really fun. On New Years Day we visited Nana, saw Frozen, went to Coco's and dad, mom and Ruby and I went to dinner. I'd been wanting to go to Rio Grande for awhile so we drove up to SLC. When we got there it was closed! So, change of plans, we went to Royal India in Bountiful instead. I'm so glad we did!! I love Indian food and it was delicious!! We got garlic, regular and a sweet naan and lamb sagg, coconut chicken and butter chicken and a mango lasse! Heaven. It was fun to just spend time with my parents and Ruby. They are really good about taking time to give u...
There are so many things that make up a person. I know that "things" isn't the right word, but I can't think of something that adequately describes what a person even  would  be made of. Dreams, accomplishments, interests, regrets, mistakes, wishes, relationships, etc. I love ballet. I want to teach ballet, and I want to dance ballet. It's part of who I am. But my heart also yearns for the actress side of me. The little bite of real acting that I got at the age of ten in a production of Babes in Toyland in Salt Lake City. The countless drives to Ogden for rehearsals of Music Man when I was twelve. The ten-hour dress rehearsals of Jana's plays throughout high school. I miss that. My heart yearns for the flute. The peak of my playing my Senior year when I was practicing daily and could play Carnival of Venice like a pro. When I began to see what my practicing had accomplished and considered going on to play in a symphony. I miss French. Learning an entire other ...
