Christmas celebrations

*These are all out of order. I just had fun pictures of the events and didn't want to forget some of the fun things we did this holiday season! :)

We saw the lights and went to the annual Christmas concert at Temple Square. We tried to get stand-by seats but they were all full so we stayed and watched it on the big screen in the tabernacle. It was Dickens-themed and awesome!

Afterwords we got Inn-N-Out to split a burger ;) yum!

For Mutual we went caroling. At the first house the sister told us she had a sleeping baby so could we please stop. The next house the woman told us it was too cold and to go home. The other one said we couldn't come in because she just had chemo (understandable), the next had caramels on the stove so she couldn't waste time listening to us because they would burn. By this point I was surprised and just wanted to go to the church for refreshments. Caroling isn't that fun anyway when it's below zero! Finally we went to the Yarbrough's. She had another mutual group there so we couldn't go in yet. She told us to wait in her garage so she could finish up with her son's mutual group. When we walked into the garage we found a scene of the nativity with a stable frame strung with bright lights and my leader and her husband crouching over a stall with a baby doll in it. The spirit was so strong in there immediately. Brother Villalba gave an amazing talk/message as well as Bishop Adams and Brother Yarbrough. Then we had hot chocolate and cookies. It was a great night!

Christmas party with the Debrys

I was able to go to the Senior Bar Christmas dinner at Oakridge. Bill is the President and we got to meet some of his colleagues and fellow lawyers. They are so wise and inspiring. These men have been around a long time and worked so hard at their profession. We got to play a couple songs for them during dinner. I love Oakridge, it has good memories of fancy dinners we used to go to when I was little and it's the place we go in the summer to swim almost daily.

Freestone got to sing in the Stake Night of Music and did great! I loved the original Corrie Conors song they sang. And I love his big red bow :)

The kids had a choir concert I couldn't go to, but I heard them singing the songs all the time and even recognized some from when I was in the Morgan Elm. school choir :)

Date night for mom and dad. Four of my best examples!

Mom's concert in the basement for her and Ruby's students. I was not there because...I was fulfilling a dream by subbing a ballet class at Clytie's! I was a last-minute, no-other-option sub for a 12-14 year old class in Studio D. It was a few minutes after my own normal ballet class and I was ecstatic to teach it. One girl asked me how old I was. I laughed and said 16. They were a little surprised but I wasn't going to let them take advantage of me just because I was only a few years older :) I taught them simple combinations at bar with the Christmas CD. They were all attentive and listened. The class was an hour and a half which I was worried about. But I ended up having enough for them to do during it. It was so much fun! The girls were great for my self-esteem ;) When I was demonstrating developes they were like "How do you get your leg so high?" I gave them a few pointers and smiled at how easily they were impressed. My develope extension is one of my ballet assets ;)  Teaching at Clytie's is now definitely one of my goals

The tree is outside so Tziporah doesn't break a bunch of ornaments or kill herself by pulling it down on her. I like it there in the window!

Flute concert. My mom and I played Still, Still, Still. Here I am with my awesome teacher Cindy

HOLIDAYS

I was so happy the Mijatovic family came to visit! Even though we're not related my blood, we're family! My lovely grandparents The newlyweds invited us and their friends to see the lights at Temple Square, then enjoy some pie and hot cocoa at their adorable apartment, conveniently located right by the temple. Such fun! Thanksgiving with the Siskins ....And everybody else ;)
The world is big. It can be scary. It can be a lot of things, a lot of adjectives because well, it's the WORLD. But there is so much  good  in it. Make it your mission to notice the good in every day life. One thing that you can count on is the sun. It rises, it's warm, it gives light. Things we need. Things that are good, life sustaining, bright. Happiness is not a side affect of a perfect life. Waiting to be happy is just plain silly. Happiness wants to come into your life, in fact, it already has, so acknowledge and befriend it. Make it deeper and better with gratitude, consistence and effort. The good in the world is apparent and abundant, just like happiness. Focusing on the good doesn't mean we ignore the sad stuff going on, refuse to ever watch the news, or be ignorant of pressing matters around the world. It just means that you cling to hope, never give up, fight discouragement and let the good into your life. Let the good in, put some good out, let light radiate fr...
