Christmas Concert

Dance Company did a Christmas performance at Weber State with Ben Lomond, Clearfield, and Freemont. I was in Hot Chocolate (from Polar Express) for the kids' half and then my friend Hayley's dance for the second half.
We met at Davis at 6:30 am to drive down to Weber. The roads were slick and a winter blizzard was going strong. Thankfully we all made it safely and started teching. We had run throughs and staging before the kids came. There were a few elementaries that came as a field trip to watch us do the first half. I'm glad they made it even with the snow, it was so fun to perform for them. I would have loved a field trip like that when I was little. Then we ate pizza and then ran the second half and did a dress rehearsal. We had a lot of time for dinner and Emily and I were kind of tired. We ate our dinner and wondered around Weber and talked with everyone. It was so fun!
The performance was great. Hayley's dance had deep meaning to her and you could tell through her amazing choreography. Her grandma was going to be at the performance that night but had an accident and wasn't doing well. That made the dance even more meaningful because she dedicated it to her. I'm so glad her dance went well and I was so grateful to help her fulfill her dream of what she wanted the dance to be.
I'm so grateful to be on Dance Company and so thankful that Davis even has one. Our dances are mostly choreographed by us so they mean something and they are unique. It also gives us a chance to grow as artists and dancers. Our purpose is not to show off, to win competitions or to impress judges. It's to learn about the art of dance together, to share that joy and to improve as dancers. I'm thankful for all the girls on DC and how nice and caring they are. It's a relief to not have any drama on the team and it's fun to see some of them at ballet.
After 15 hours at Weber, I wasn't ready for the three big tests at school the next day, but it was worth it. Sometimes school isn't my first priority. I try my best and do my homework, but what am I going to remember years from now? Stoichiometry or dancing with my friends? :)

Thanks Lex and Jennie for coming to see me! You are always so supportive. Can't wait to see Lex's drill stuff!!

HOLIDAYS

I was so happy the Mijatovic family came to visit! Even though we're not related my blood, we're family! My lovely grandparents The newlyweds invited us and their friends to see the lights at Temple Square, then enjoy some pie and hot cocoa at their adorable apartment, conveniently located right by the temple. Such fun! Thanksgiving with the Siskins ....And everybody else ;)
The world is big. It can be scary. It can be a lot of things, a lot of adjectives because well, it's the WORLD. But there is so much  good  in it. Make it your mission to notice the good in every day life. One thing that you can count on is the sun. It rises, it's warm, it gives light. Things we need. Things that are good, life sustaining, bright. Happiness is not a side affect of a perfect life. Waiting to be happy is just plain silly. Happiness wants to come into your life, in fact, it already has, so acknowledge and befriend it. Make it deeper and better with gratitude, consistence and effort. The good in the world is apparent and abundant, just like happiness. Focusing on the good doesn't mean we ignore the sad stuff going on, refuse to ever watch the news, or be ignorant of pressing matters around the world. It just means that you cling to hope, never give up, fight discouragement and let the good into your life. Let the good in, put some good out, let light radiate fr...
