Ballet Recital 2011

And of course we had to celebrate with Yogotogo!

Nothing to do with recital. just a gorgeous pic. of a sunset:)

We've been at Weber almost every day for 2 weeks and I love it! This year the theme was Once Upon A Time. I was hoping I'd be a Princess or Fairy, but I was Seaweed, a Rat and Christmas Feast! That's okay, it was so fun and I still got a Princess costume for my ballet dance! In my favorite colors! :) My teacher Marsha gave our everyone in our class a rose, which was so nice! Sara's mom was a lifesaver in Lexie's quick change and my mom helped me with mine too. This was my first recital en pointe and it was slippery and I couldn't breathe in the corset, but when you are on stage you forget about that. It was so much fun and all my friends are so fun and nice.  I'm going to work really hard next year!  I can't wait!
I guess this is the end of Once Upon A Time 2011 Ballet Recital. So... The dancers lived Happily Ever After!

And here are the funny quotes from the recital. Only Ruby, my mom, Ari and I and a couple other people understand them.

"Dry ice."      "Gasp!"       "Okaaaaaaaayyy..."
"How do you  try?"
"Why did they lell, why did they yew... Why did they do that?"
"There are more germs on the envelope than on my eye lashes!"
"CLYTIE, DO YOU WANT ME TO TAKE SOME OFF THE CROTCH!?"
"I'll just get that off my foot later."
"I need three more pennies!"
"Ohhhhh, magtania! Is that French?" "That's magenta Lex."
"I've raised four kids, five if you count Golda."

There are so many things that make up a person. I know that "things" isn't the right word, but I can't think of something that adequately describes what a person even  would  be made of. Dreams, accomplishments, interests, regrets, mistakes, wishes, relationships, etc. I love ballet. I want to teach ballet, and I want to dance ballet. It's part of who I am. But my heart also yearns for the actress side of me. The little bite of real acting that I got at the age of ten in a production of Babes in Toyland in Salt Lake City. The countless drives to Ogden for rehearsals of Music Man when I was twelve. The ten-hour dress rehearsals of Jana's plays throughout high school. I miss that. My heart yearns for the flute. The peak of my playing my Senior year when I was practicing daily and could play Carnival of Venice like a pro. When I began to see what my practicing had accomplished and considered going on to play in a symphony. I miss French. Learning an entire other ...

Senior Flute Recital

*(I'm catching up)* November 21st Another rite of passage as my mom would say! Senior Flute recital! I had probably been practicing and preparing the repertoire for almost two years, not to mention the 8 years before that which allowed me to get to the level required to play the pieces. Cindy told me a Senior Recital wasn't required, but encouraged. It was good practice for auditions, stress and pressure management :) ;) and it was a good motivator to practice. I'm so glad I did it, even if it did seem overwhelming at times. I really started to love the flute during the months leading up to the recital. It was exciting to have something to work for and know that soon I could show what I'd been doing for so many years. I worked hard, but wasn't always the most dedicated student. Priorities often put flute behind school and ballet. Dance is my true passion and has been for so many years, but music has helped with dance and I'm thankful for the balance fl...
Graduation. Am I ready? Of course not. Was I ready for Junior High or High School? No. Or maybe I just thought I wasn't. Because it always ended up fine. So much has happened in my years of public education. I learned to read, was on Student Council, learned Shakespeare, sang Shoes in the Fourth Grade Program, was in Symphonic Band as a "sevie", was a Student Body Officer freshman year, marched in the 2013 Rose Parade, spent two awesome years on Dance Company (one with my best friend Ruby), choreographed for Winter and Spring Concert, went to dances, spent hours and hours on homework, studied my brains out, tackled really really hard classes, danced in The Nutcracker ten times, auditioned for whatever I could, threw parties whenever I could, wrote hundreds of essays, traveled with my family, imagined my future, admired my parents, went to Europe three times, set goals, got my license, got three new siblings since Kindergarten, got my first pair of pointe shoes, went...
