London 2012

The Olympics have been great this year and I love how it was in London. We missed the Opening Ceremonies on our trip, but maybe I'll watch them on youtube sometime:)
My favorite thing to watch is Girls' Gymnastics. We had a really good team this year which people are calling the Fab Five or the Fierce Five. Jordyn Wieber, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, Kyla Ross and McKayla Maroney make up the team. I wasn't a fan of McKayla because when she didn't win gold on the vault, she wasn't a good sport about it. Jordyn was the favorite to win gold and when she didn't make the finals, she cheered on her teammates who did and was super nice. I also liked Gabby, she's so strong and you could tell she was excited to be there.
I also like watching Swimming. I'm sad Michael Phelps is retiring but it was neat to see him win gold in his last Olympic swim. I can't believe he's won 22 medals, 18 of them gold! Missy Franklin also did great winning 3 gold medals and breaking a world record and she's only 17!
The Olympics are amazing to watch. Humans are capable of so much and it's awesome to see people who are so dedicated and willing to work hard represent their countries. My favorite part is that the whole world comes together. Even though we've had war against each other and our culture, history, and appearance is different, we can all watch our athletes compete and celebrate their achievement.
Go team USA!

HOLIDAYS

I was so happy the Mijatovic family came to visit! Even though we're not related my blood, we're family! My lovely grandparents The newlyweds invited us and their friends to see the lights at Temple Square, then enjoy some pie and hot cocoa at their adorable apartment, conveniently located right by the temple. Such fun! Thanksgiving with the Siskins ....And everybody else ;)

The world is big. It can be scary. It can be a lot of things, a lot of adjectives because well, it's the WORLD. But there is so much  good  in it. Make it your mission to notice the good in every day life. One thing that you can count on is the sun. It rises, it's warm, it gives light. Things we need. Things that are good, life sustaining, bright. Happiness is not a side affect of a perfect life. Waiting to be happy is just plain silly. Happiness wants to come into your life, in fact, it already has, so acknowledge and befriend it. Make it deeper and better with gratitude, consistence and effort. The good in the world is apparent and abundant, just like happiness. Focusing on the good doesn't mean we ignore the sad stuff going on, refuse to ever watch the news, or be ignorant of pressing matters around the world. It just means that you cling to hope, never give up, fight discouragement and let the good into your life. Let the good in, put some good out, let light radiate fr...
