Portugal

Portugal might be my favoriteso far. Don´t worry, not of all time, just on this trip. Paris is still numba one!! :)
It wasn´t too hot which was nice since Italy was so warm. We went to a castle, palace, and museum. We dined three times. Once at a cute cafe restaurant, once at a nice restaurant where we got fresh fish (likethey caught it a few hours before and they showed us the whole scaly fish before preparing it) and today at the cafe at the museum.
Portugal is rich in history and strongly influenced by Muslim culture due to the Moors. It had a very rich royal family for a while but the royals kept marrying cousins and family so... yeah that might have been their downfall. The beach was crowded but nice. I never saw so many bikinis in my life. After the fish dinner we watched the sunset over the ocean. We had an amazing view from our table as well and it was gorgeous! I did not used to like fish but now I do! I´m glad because the fish wasso good. I still don´t like sushi or octopus though.
Now we are in Spain. The family we are with is amazing.Victor is fourteen and speaks almost fluent English and the little sister Sofia speaks too but she is kind of shy. Juan speaks French but not much English and he has a job I would love! He used to be an archeologist but now he works mostly on arctifacts and stuff for a museum and his company. Pretty cool! The mom, Sonia is very nice and says that she is going to learn English for when we visit next year! :)
And mom: Ruby and I did our daily hug as well as putting arms around shoulders for pictures ;)

  2. Beautiful pictures! So glad you keep sharing! I love the Dopp family adventures this summer. Hey, I think your mom told us about the hug rule. I let my kids hug like T-rex's when they are forced to hug. You hold your elbows in and only hug with your forearm. Usually results in laughter. I'm here to help:) So glad you are having such a great time!

First day of college

Man, the first day was amazing! I don't have class until 9:30, then I walked over (super easy, short walk) and found my modern class easily. We went over questions and syllabus today so no dancing. I really love the faculty and I'm so glad I got to go to workshops here in high school so I'm a little familiar with the program. Then I had technique 2, and we did one across the floor. The two teachers said "okay, we have some people we want to move up to Tech 3 right now...Golda..." I was so happy! Placement happens throughout the week, but I was so happy to get moved up right away! So now I'm in pointe 3 too. I feel so grateful to be able to dance 9:30 to 2:30 every.day. !!!! I didn't get into my first institute class, so I read all the emails from my missionary friends. Mondays are a whole lot better with those! :) My colloquium class was good, then I met up with my roommate who was hanging out with 2 RMs. We went to play ping pong before another Freshman...

Navajo Nation

The Honors Program sponsors a bunch of activities they allow the students to sign up for. They are as simple as a paddle boarding excursion at night, to a four day road trip to Navajo Nation. I signed up for the Navajo Nation thinking that I wouldn't get in and that it was forever away. Then someone else couldn't go and I was informed it was in two days. I am the world's worst decision maker and I had a hard time deciding to go. I would miss 5 dance classes and a biology class, plus the possible opportunity to go to the BYU-Boise game and the singles ward. But I might never get the chance to go to Navajo Nation and I didn't want to regret the " what if's ?"  College is for being a little crazy, going out of your comfort zone and utilizing all your resources and claiming every opportunity. So I decided to go. I met the group at 6:55 am, realizing that I was about to spend 7 1/2 hours in a car with people I didn't know. What was I thinking?? But th...

At The Car Wash

Registering my car has been quite the ordeal. I have class until 5 every day and rehearsals Tuesday and Thursday, so finding a time has not been easy. One of my rehearsals was canceled today, so I drove to an auto-mechanic to update my registration. I knew I could get Safety and Emissions done, but thought they could also register my car. Nope! I have to go to the DMV. Then my car was failed, not because of the fact that the rear-view mirror is cracked (I bumped it in my apartment garage on a pillar-not my finest moment) but because there is a smaller circular mirror in the corner of it. It seemed like a tiny adjustment to me and couldn't believe they couldn't repair it right then at the mechanic! But it's fine-plus the owner gave me a free car-wash! Not just any car wash, "The BEST Carwash". It was $9. So I pull into the car-wash and jets start spraying all over and I can't see through the window from all the soapy water. And I'm like this is so cool! I ...
