Lanselvillard

The chalet in the French Alps that Catherine's father built years ago was simply adorable. It was the perfect little French home, with gorgeous views of the mountains and village. They call it La Grange du Mas and it reminded me of the movie Heidi. We shared a room with Olympe and the three of us each had our own little wooden bed built into the room/wall. The tiny window and window seat was my favorite part. I loved to sit there and write in my journal or look out at the views with the window open.
We spent the time going on beautiful hikes, visiting the villages, seeing a fireworks show on Bastille Day, swimming in lakes, going on one of those hamster blow up balls in the water, seeing Jurassic World in French, playing YAMS (a game of luck played with three dice-so fun) and eating yummy French food. Catherine and Genevieve are the best cooks!
It was so fun and so French!

What a view! We stopped to have ice cream and admire this amazing lake from an adorable cafe with an outside deck area

Prettiest wild flowers I have ever seen

Paradise?

This was sinfully sugary and I loved every bite. We got the last one at the bakery!

Oh ya okay only two more hours! That's easy! *gasping*
Worth it.

Our starting point

Some military ruins from the world wars. Can't remember details whoops!

Don't fall through!

SNOW!

Starting point. It's tiny if you can't tell
Showing off my sun-bleached hair and no makeuped face. Heat + make up = disgusting sweat

Playing with Olympe's hair
The French girl did a French twist on me, with a twist ;)

It's said that this is a shroud of the real image of Christ after his crucifixion. We didn't see the real one, but we just pretended this print in the church's gift shop was the real deal haha

Pretty satisfactory shopping

HOLIDAYS

I was so happy the Mijatovic family came to visit! Even though we're not related my blood, we're family! My lovely grandparents The newlyweds invited us and their friends to see the lights at Temple Square, then enjoy some pie and hot cocoa at their adorable apartment, conveniently located right by the temple. Such fun! Thanksgiving with the Siskins ....And everybody else ;)
The world is big. It can be scary. It can be a lot of things, a lot of adjectives because well, it's the WORLD. But there is so much  good  in it. Make it your mission to notice the good in every day life. One thing that you can count on is the sun. It rises, it's warm, it gives light. Things we need. Things that are good, life sustaining, bright. Happiness is not a side affect of a perfect life. Waiting to be happy is just plain silly. Happiness wants to come into your life, in fact, it already has, so acknowledge and befriend it. Make it deeper and better with gratitude, consistence and effort. The good in the world is apparent and abundant, just like happiness. Focusing on the good doesn't mean we ignore the sad stuff going on, refuse to ever watch the news, or be ignorant of pressing matters around the world. It just means that you cling to hope, never give up, fight discouragement and let the good into your life. Let the good in, put some good out, let light radiate fr...
