I opened my eyes slowly. No. This couldn't possibly be real, it had to be a dream. I blinked twice. "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore Toto." I told my little dog. I kept looking out of what used to be the window. Finally, I got enough courage to walk to the door and ease it open. It fell off its hinges when I pushed it, but I was too preoccupied to care. Outside was a colorful place filled with flowers, bubbles and sunlight. A crystal clear stream ran through the middle of the street and a quaint bridge suspended over it. Roses and peonies surrounded a bright yellow brick road and sugary sweet aromas filled the air. I noticed the flowers start to move a little. Back and forth, up and down, side to side. Suddenly, short little people stood up from their hiding place. The flowers were just decorations on their colorful hats. They pointed and giggled at me. Where in the world am I? I looked to the babyblue sky, and saw a small shiny bubble coming towards me
Once upon a time, there was a magical kingdom filled with darkness. Ever since the sapphire dragon came to the kingdom and took the amber gem that lit the large village, light could not penetrate the black mist that covered everything. The King tried to find noble knights that would search out the dragon and destroy it, but none came back alive. The queen tried all sorts of spells, even hired fairies to come and when even they failed, the people lost hope. They used candles, lanterns and wands, which only lit the few inches of darkness around them. Torches made it possible for walking around in the day time. No one ever tried to get around in the night, the darkness clung to heavily on the earth. The princess in this kingdom was very beautiful and smart. Her name was Sephora Grace. She had black hair with a tint of red, almost purple eyes and fair, smooth skin. One day, after her beloved knight, Sir Canticle was found dead in a cave, she decided she would join the quest. After all, s
Golden sunlight shines through tree branches like apple cider oozing between blue sky. Dry leaves crunch under my feet and birds sing, the only sound that disturbs the otherwise perfect silence. I let my eyes hear, my nose see. All my senses are filled with my favorite time of year. Crisp air with a slight wind carries summer memories and winter warnings. Crimson, gold, blazing orange and rusty yellow leaves color the world. Burnt auburn tree trunks cling to the Earth and their roots occasionally grow up through the ground. They twist and curve and dive through the grass and make the pathway uneven. I smell the ripe apples in the orchard nearby and decomposing flowers below me. Snowflakes fall softly onto the icy ground. The snow sparkles like blue embers in a sea of winter fire. The world itself seems to have fallen asleep and breaths through the sky. Inside it's warm and comfortable, filled with cinnamon, pine and peppermint aromas. Cheery songs play in your mind as you wrap gi
The Help by Kathryn Stockett The Help is a great book for young adults and mature teenagers. It is education, funny and insightful. It is 444 pages, but a definite page turner. I rated it 5-stars because it is such a great book. It is basically about how unfairly African-Americans were treated in the 1950s and 60s. It changes perspective about every chapter, but it's fairly easy to follow along. It is from the point of view of 3 women from Jackson, Mississippi in the 1960's. Aibileen, Minny and Miss Skeeter are the narrators. I thought it was unique that it had more than one narrator and it allowed you to understand the story much better. Aibileen (my favorite character) is a black women who is "the Help" to Miss Leefolt. She is kind, wise and smart. Throughout the story she develops a strong bond between Miss Leefolt's little girl, Mae Mobley. Miss Leefolt is very strict and rather  oblivious to Mae Mobley. She doesn't really know how to raise her, so Aibil
