Copenhagen

Traveling makes me happy! So here is a tid-bit of information, pictures and thoughts on places I've been Travel is a passion of mine, so I threw it up on this blog of mine. ENJOY København   Copenhagen was such an amazing city to explore. I had never been before and it's not a city that's underrated in my opinion. I didn't know what to expect which made it exciting and mysterious! We got the flight for about $400. $400!!!!!! That's the only reason we went. My parents could not ignore airfare that cheap. The catch: the flight was from LA. We live in Utah. That's right, we drove 12 hours just to get on the plane. We spent an hour at the beach after the long car ride, then headed to the airport. I left my new, warm, convenient, awesome, basically magical parka on the flight. It's the kind that could roll up into a little bag and it rolled away under my seat and I forgot it. And Copenhagen in March is  freezing.  So I would suggest not losing your

40 Reasons Why My Mom is Awesome

She is the most generous person I know She loves to have parties and host. It's not a big deal or stressful for her; she loves it! She loves to travel She encourages me to travel or takes me traveling She went to her dream college. And she worked really hard for it. She understands the value of an education and of learning about other cultures. She decided not to go to violin-making school in glamorous NYC, so she could move to Idaho while my dad went to Law School. Oh and to have me! She listens. She basically solves all my problems. Which isn't easy because I'm a worry-wart. She dies her hair pink just because She always knows my grades, brings forgotten papers to school for me, or brings me lunch She is an amazing writer. She is so consistent and dedicated to recording family history through her blog. She doesn't judge others. Her favorite color is orange; my favorite color! She can make the most contrary, talkative, strange boy practice the violin o

Looking Back

As I'm looking at my schedule for the last two terms of High School (gaaahhhh!) it appears that I don't have time to do a musical this year. When I told my friend that she said "When has that ever stopped you?" hahaha true. But this time, it's seriously not looking good. The last play I was in was rather spontaneous. I decided I'd audition literally 30 minutes before auditions ended. It turned out to be really really fun. And I've missed the whole theater thing! I miss going to rehearsal and seeing kids from other schools, making new friends, being with professional directors, dancing, singing, acting, saying lines, memorizing lines, wearing the costume for the first time.... It's wierd because all through elementary and Junior High, I thought I'd be involved in theatre in High School. In 9th grade, my school theatre experience was pretty fun. Average most of the time, inspiring at moments, but fun (ish) I decided to go the band and Dance Compan

Senior Flute Recital

*(I'm catching up)* November 21st Another rite of passage as my mom would say! Senior Flute recital! I had probably been practicing and preparing the repertoire for almost two years, not to mention the 8 years before that which allowed me to get to the level required to play the pieces. Cindy told me a Senior Recital wasn't required, but encouraged. It was good practice for auditions, stress and pressure management :) ;) and it was a good motivator to practice. I'm so glad I did it, even if it did seem overwhelming at times. I really started to love the flute during the months leading up to the recital. It was exciting to have something to work for and know that soon I could show what I'd been doing for so many years. I worked hard, but wasn't always the most dedicated student. Priorities often put flute behind school and ballet. Dance is my true passion and has been for so many years, but music has helped with dance and I'm thankful for the balance fl

California

After enjoying a relaxing flight and then exploring Old Town, my family picked me up in front of the Mormon Battalion. The Battalion was an amazing experience. Sister missionaries run it and give tours. They tell stories about the men and women involved in the batallion, focusing on their faith, obedience and unique stories of a Mormon military unit. After the tour, I went up to look at little houses that are kept in their original historic condition. They were lovely. There was a gorgeous big tree on the top of the hill. I sat on a bench by it reading Taking Flight. It was sunny and warm. A little slice of heaven. California was a much needed break to spend time with my family, relax and slow down. Granted, when I came back school was intense, but now I'm done! More on that later.  The weather was great and I just loved the simple, fun, familiar things we do in Imperial Beach. I had the best chocolate cake of my life and went to a super yummy Mexican restaurant in Old Town. An
