First Friday

FRIDAY! whooohooo! On Fridays, the dance department allows colorful leotards, so I pulled out my single non-black leo my mom got me (thanks mom!) And walked to class at 9 am. Modern was good, ballet was good, pointe was short, orientation to dance was good. Had lunch with my new friend Sierra then headed to a dance audition. I went for the experience and I'm so glad I did! It was for the fancy modern ensemble called Synergy. Modern is an interesting style. You have to find ways to add your personality and still keep the feel and movement of the choreography. Today was just so fun! I learned a lot from watching and I was next to Chloe, my dance friend from high school. Go numbers 18 and 19!! We find out Monday, which is a long time to wait, but I know I didn't so I'm just stressed for chloe who really wants to make it. She's a gorgeous dancer: she's got it in the bag! Going home tomorrow or tonight after the tailgate, soccer game and green out dance. I have a farewel

College

Tuesday I had Ancient Legacies and the usual dance classes. I'm in the library currently, waiting to meet some friends to see Jurassic World (for the third time...it's fine.) Ancient Legacies and Biology are going to be a struggle. I prefer Shakespeare over Homer I think. But I'm getting smarter and that's sort of why I came to college right? My biology teacher is a hoot. She's from France and is really enthusiastic, a little sarcastic and long-winded. It's only a semester class and so far it's been a review of 7th grade biology. Anyone remember making a cell model out of cake and candy? Totally came in handy today. :) Adjusting pretty well, there are times when I just miss my high school friends or want to be in my own house, but learning to live on your own is so important, I'm just grateful for this opportunity and excited to get in the swing of things!

First day of college

Man, the first day was amazing! I don't have class until 9:30, then I walked over (super easy, short walk) and found my modern class easily. We went over questions and syllabus today so no dancing. I really love the faculty and I'm so glad I got to go to workshops here in high school so I'm a little familiar with the program. Then I had technique 2, and we did one across the floor. The two teachers said "okay, we have some people we want to move up to Tech 3 right now...Golda..." I was so happy! Placement happens throughout the week, but I was so happy to get moved up right away! So now I'm in pointe 3 too. I feel so grateful to be able to dance 9:30 to 2:30 every.day. !!!! I didn't get into my first institute class, so I read all the emails from my missionary friends. Mondays are a whole lot better with those! :) My colloquium class was good, then I met up with my roommate who was hanging out with 2 RMs. We went to play ping pong before another Freshman

College

I drove down to Orem on Friday with my mom and Ari, all of us squashed into the front seat of my Cadillac with heaps of clothes in the back and a trunk full of dorm supplies. We got the tires checked on our way, then headed off! We checked in, I got my keys, and we started to unload G-Rex. (My car) A nice kid named Nick who is a Sophomore helped us. We got everything in with only two trips, thanks to some shopping carts they found a few minutes before and let us use. I am on the first floor which will be nice for taking stuff to and from, and being able to park right in front of my door (especially in the winter time). And my shower is huge because it's wheelchair accessible! At first, not going to lie, I was thinking, Okay why am I leaving my big, nice room and comfy bed for this dingy little apartment an hour away from home?? But with some a lot of Lysol, moving all my stuff in, decorating, and more cleaning, it started to feel like home. The room is pretty small, but I'm so

The Uncool

While in Europe and during this couch-ridden wisdom teeth removal recovery, I've had some time to blog surf (and name all my future children and plan my dorm and ya okay half of my wedding-which won't be for at least 4 years) But anyway, I came across some super cool ones and a few of them did this post. The Uncool post. Because so many of us are tricked into thinking that someone's life is the one they see on Social Media. That the snapshots they choose to share are the only ones in this perfect person's perfect life. Not that I think anyone thinks my life is perfect, but, I just thought I'd add my own Uncool list. Mostly because, frankly, it's funny and there's so much available content. The Not So "Cool" 1) I almost threw up on a Subway in New York last week Can you even imagine? Picture it, all these black people on the subway car and the ONLY white girl, throwing up everywhere as the car zooms underneath Central Park. Luckily, I ran out a

New York

The big apple! After two long flights (because of the anticipation and excitement of seeing my parents) we landed in the big apple and met our dad in the airport. I was so happy to see him. I missed him a lot! As I requested, he was holding a Levain Bakery bag which contained my absolute favorite cookies. We took the subway to our place and met my mom. My mom! I have a mom! I almost forgot ;) She was prepared with pizza and Coke. See how awesome my parents are?? We feasted on cheese pizza and huge chocolate-chip walnut Levain cookies while Ruby and I told them about our European adventures. It was awesome. Together at last!!  Brighton Beach. It was such a concentrated, authentic area of Russian/Ukrainian culture! Everyone was speaking Russian and there were shops and shops of real Russian food and signs in Russian. We got some really delicious food from one of the bakeries    This Russian pear juice tasted JUST like a pear. Only a litt
